With catchy fast ryhtms, violent vocals and raw dirty guitars….. The sound is okay too…. The cover is funny and the lyrics are very uncommon too! Moreover they come from Austria, and except Mastic Scum I don’t remember having the knowledge of any more grindcore bands from this country (?)… Check this out!
DVS: Oh! This is the second vinyl release I hear from this interesting slovakian one-piece grind-gore band. The 3 songs here have a quite muddy sound, but you can hear the drum blasts (programmed ones) quite well, like the vocals too, which are distorted with great splattery effects! Once again, Deviant Viral Source isn’t outrageously surprising, but cool to listen to… Dirty to the core! It’s pressed on vinyl, so it’s really cool! I’m sure you have 4 USD to spend to spend for this! You can get this split single for this cheap price on the address below! Don’t hesitate! ELECTRIC FUNERAL / GO FILTH GO split EP
Two Bands, Six Songs, One Noisey 7″. Electric Funeral are a band who I have been a huge fan of and since first hearing them, I have been telling people to listen to and after hearing this 7″ I am not going to stop any time soon. What I love so much about Electric Funeral is despite the power of the noise and distort everything is clear as a bell, which may sound a bit of an oxymoron, but its true everything is perfect. As always full of energy and air punching d-beat noise to keep ya tied over till their next release. Go Filth Go who I hadn’t listened to previously but these Greek D-Beaters bring some chaotic d-beat noise to the split with galloping drums, Disclose styled vocals and noise guitars and a more stripped down and raw sound, the same sort of raw feel as of 80′s Hardcore the type that only the Scandinavians can do, which gives the 7″ a more destructive nature.

FUCK THE FACTS / SUBCUT split EP
First up here is Fuck the Facts. More ripping death/thrash from this ever changing Canadian band, cranking out three relatively quick tracks. After a solid instrumental called “Secret Asian”, “Another Living Night” tosses in a couple of subtle melodic Swedish death metal influences, while “No One Remembered Who Started” is much chunkier and flirts with a little bit more of a discordant metalcore vibe in some ways. The recording is unbalanced since the shrieking vocal screams are entirely too loud and the drums can sound clicky and dominant, but the riffs are fucking awesome and I really dig the energy of the songwriting. They need to give the bass more definition and clean up the guitars so that they run the show as opposed to the vocals and drums, but as players and writers these guys are definitely progressing nicely. The only thing I actively dislike about these three tracks is the vocals, which definitely fall on the irritating side and distract from the music. Were they able to even out the mix that might not be as much of an issue though, as I don’t think I’ve ever been bothered in the past. Subcut (Brazil) follows with six tracks of fast and pissed grinding hardcore/punk with indecipherably barked vocal shouts as well as sneering screams. Their recording is sort of thin and lightweight, but were it heavier a lot of the grindcore influences they’re drawing on musically would be a little more evident, so it might be cool for them to try a slightly heavier guitar tone in the future to add a little more ferocity to their work.

Both are excellent Grindcore/Gore bands from US. Gored Face is very basic, very primal, with excellent grind riffs, grotesque growls and chaotic fast drumming. I found that stuff to be sparking. Gorgeous savage grind in the vein of Rotting Flesh (Brazil) or Hideous Mangleus maybe.
Hideous Fecal Splatter Session is also really basic grind, real dirty and raw, complete with thrashing guitar, pounding drum blasts and guttural growls. All of this comes in not so good demo sound, but the stuff is highly enjoyable, cuz that’s grind that comes from the guts and it’s great! Keep an eye on these 2 bands

ROVSVETT “KANGOR & SHORTS” EP
Here we have six tracks of relatively straightforward crusty hardcore/punk from Sweden with shouting vocals and a couple of thrashy picking patterns or quick crossover metal breaks. “Inget Liv” tosses in a few odd dual guitar harmonies but is one of the more memorable tracks, and “Mänskligt Avfall” similarly offers an unexpected and unusual lead break over a more metallic rhythm pattern before diving right back into simple chord progressions and barked vocal patterns. But for the most part the tracks sound fairly similar to one another, and similar to a common take on the Swedish crust sound that, as mentioned above, only offers a few atypical shifts in delivery. Though, of course, a track like “Fuck You” is obviously more in your face and kind of adds a touch more kick to its attitude.

SIGH “Imaginary Sonicscape” CD
Sigh’s fifth album and most ambitious work to date, Imaginary Sonicscape solidifies the band as a master of surrealist black metal, even if there isn’t exactly a whole lot of competition. With it, they have kept the main elements of their last couple of albums intact — the dirty, hook-filled ’80s metal riffing; the female choirs and (very realistic sounding) synthesized string sections; and the grim, scratchy lead vocals of frontman Mirai Kawashima — while at the same time greatly improving the production and expanding the instrumentation to include, most notably, a whole array of vintage ’70s keyboards (e.g., Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer, Fender Rhodes piano). Unlike some of their earlier work, where the rough-edged guitars could seem at odds with the more lush strings, the instruments here are more smoothly integrated and simply sound more natural alongside one another. That’s not to say that their music has become more tame in the process: just about every track contains some sort of bizarre “What were they thinking?” twist, such the out-of-nowhere dub-reggae breakdown in “Scarlet Dreams” or the chorus of giggling babies that suddenly cuts in at the end of “Requiem: Nostalgia.” Elsewhere, listeners will encounter bombastic prog rock keyboards, vocoders, Japanese folk music passages, mellow jazz fusion piano, loads of trippy synth effects, and even a little kung-fu-flavored disco. What makes it all even more disorienting is how everything remains tied to a more-or-less straightforward, hard-rocking metal foundation, the kind that would do Thin Lizzy or Iron Maiden proud (especially with all the dual-harmonized guitar lines they toss in this time around). On one hand, this is great heavy metal, and on the other, it’s genuinely twisted experimental/psychedelic music. An amazing, weird album, and also the best place for newcomers to start with this band. [The 2007 edition includes one bonus track.] ~ William York

WORMROT “Abuse” CD
Singapore’s Wormrot has been causing a stir in the international grindcore scene, especially with the signing on to Earache Records and having their debut full length album reissued with bonus tracks – quite an achievement, considering that they were formed only back in 2007.
Wormrot themselves have claimed that they do not intend to bring anything new to the grindcore scene, but to celebrate and play what they enjoy playing the most. Their influences from classic grindcore bands are clearly prominent on their songs, such as Insect Warfare and Pretty Little Flower. I’ll admit, I’m no big grindcore fan but Wormrot’s Abuse has managed to capture my attention.

Poland and the Czech Republic are without doubt, the underground heartland of European grindcore. Maybe it’s the recent history of direct political action, or the sense of very real impotence and stagnation that characterised much of post-communist decade, or maybe it’s just the preponderance of gassy lagers doing something to the attention spans or shortage of vowels making lyrics seem angry, but in this part of the world they build them fast as fuck and thoroughly pissed off. Active since 1995 and having released a split with the absolutely blistering Lycanthropy, Needful Things have bolstered their rumbling, Scandinavian-style assault with some monstrous, muscular production on ‘Tentacles of Influence’ (which you can stream here, and then BUY, obviously!), giving the whole thing a sense of Rotten Sound, circa the bloody-toothed pummelling of ‘Exit’. The perfect balance between that old school chaos and modern, tightly-hewn delivery like a laser-guided warhead packed with rabies, ‘Tentacles of Influence’ is a serious, zero-bullshit offering that’ll make both casual fans of the genre and diehard speedfreaks drop their jaws and fill their pants.

“Open Hostility” was the follow-up album to “Shotgun Justice”, originally released only on CD in 1991 via Fist Fight Records. It was the second album featuring the then new Razor vocalist Bob Reid. So are “Shotgun Justice” and “Open Hostility” the only two Razor albums, which have not been released on vinyl at all up until now? What about “Decibels” from 1997 (originally released on Hypnotic Records)? Guitarist Dave Carlo knows: “’Decibels’ has never come out on vinyl. Only on CD at this point in time. I am not sure, if we will ever do a vinyl of it. That’s something I might entertain. For now I am happy with having ‘Shotgun Justice’ and ‘Open Hostility’ out on vinyl. But we may have a look at the earlier releases in the future, too. Who knows?”
Who knows, indeed … Who knows for example why (mostly) all original classic Canadian Metal acts from the ‘80’s had such a unique sound? Think of Anvil, Exciter, Razor … They don’t sound like your average American Thrash band by any stretch of the imagination.

GRIDE “Záškuby chaosu” LP
Gride are possibly one of the most interesting grindcore bands around, regardless if their previous efforts sounded like this (to my knowledge they hadn’t sounded like this) Gride do their best to make the most acceptable curve-balls and freakouts around. Záškuby chaosu highlights this for sure as the band hemorrhages massive amounts of ideas in only 27 minutes and 54 seconds, doing their best to channel fellow countrymen !T.O.O.H.! yet thrash and grind harder then you’d expect from the opening noodle of a track. Gride are pushing the boundaries here and it’ll only get more exciting to see where they end up.

I personally considered him as a friend and i had always managed our relationship as brotherhood, but unfortunately i’ve found out that this guy is none as a parasite leecher which infests the underground scene trying to survive on people’s trust. So please be warned by this guy because he just wears a MASK made of LIES, acting like a very nice and easy guy with no needs of money, no needs of claims… By his lies and his cheating behaviour Grind Block Records has LOST 70% of the distro and the following records have to be considered sold out because actually he possess them unlawfully (or even gave away).
